Pro Hockey Summer Camp - Kitchener

Overview: July 20th to 24th

Pro Hockey Development is a leader in hockey development for players of all ages. Our Hockey Camps are great way to advance your skills in the Summer Months. The program takes a 4 prong approach to hockey development. We have narrowed the focus of our game to the most important skills that can accelerate a student’s skill development. Power Skating, Puck Control, Off Ice Training and 3 on 3 game scrimmages.

Many world class players have participated in Pro Hockey Development programs. Mike York of the St. Louis Blues, Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Mike Weaver of the St. Louis Blues, Greg Stewart of the Montreal Canadians Mike Cammalleri of the Calgary Flames, Corey Perry of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Adam Hall of the Tampa Bay Lightning are a few of the players who have benefited from the unique skill development that PHDG offers. Our strength lies in our understanding of the different stages that young athletes must progress through to reach their full potential. Our drills and teaching methods are in sync with these stages and are the backbone of our program. Coupled with the low student/instructor ratio, Pro Hockey Development Group has become and easy choice for parents, players and teams.

The Program

Power Skating:

Pro Hockey is renowned in the field of Power Skating instruction. Since 1994 Pro Hockey Development and its team of Instructors have improved the skating techniques of thousands of amateur, Junior, College and NHL hockey players.

The Pro Hockey Power Skating System focuses on the following components:

  1. Stride Development
  2. Balance
  3. Edge Control
  4. Agility
  5. Speed

Each component is taught in a progressive manner that allows the student to learn the proper skating techniques quickly and efficiency. Skating is not a natural motion and must be broken down to its most basic level and then built up to a point that ensures a player has the skating skills for him or her to master the complex skating manoeuvres needed to perform the game at the highest level.

Stickhandling

Pro Hockey recognizes that a greater emphasis has been placed on individual skills. Players like Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and Henrik Zetterberg dominate the ice and the headlines. Coaches at all levels are looking for the skilled hockey players who can control the game and contribute to the team.

With Pro Hockey Development you can expand your sphere of influence in the game. Through our Stickhandling Skills, Puckhandling Moves, Fakes and Dekes, Shooting and Passing, Puck Protection, Puck Control Tips, Goal Scoring, Breakaways, Penalty Shots & Shoot Outs we will take you to the next level.

3 on 3 Hockey

3 on 3 game play is quite different from standard 5-on-5 play. Teams are small, 9 players (one goalie), and games move very quickly. Don't let this format fool you… this game is an endurance challenge. Pro Hockey has been advocating this style of hockey for the past 10 years. Additionally, European hockey programs have used this form of hockey as the foundation of their skills programs. 3 on 3 hockey forces players to play with their teammates. These limitations require players to move faster, react quicker, pass the puck often and learn how to support the play. In short, it helps teach player creativity while sharpening their instincts. The obvious benefit is that all players, regardless of present ability level, improve skills quickly and improve their knowledge of tactics. And the best thing of all… they are doing this while having FUN!

Off Ice Training

Our goal at Pro Hockey Development is to help athletes achieve better on-ice performance and compete injury free. This will ultimately help the athletes reach their goals in sport. Physically, we want to make our players faster, quicker, more agile, powerful, reactive, and the best conditioned athletes on the ice. Mentally, we instil confidence, determination, challenge, work-ethic, perseverance, and leadership through our coaching and training methods.

Enhanced dryland exercises will accelerate the power skating techniques of the players at our camp allowing them to get more out of each hour they train with us.
